Pour Decision is a community of whisky drinkers — beginners, hobbyists, and the occasional dram-obsessed weirdo. We want it to be a place you'd actually want to spend time. Here's what we ask.
Be respectful
Disagree with someone's tasting notes? Cool, that's the whole point. Disagree with someone's identity, background, or right to exist? That's not.
Treat other members like you'd treat someone who handed you a really nice pour at a bar. Even if you think their pick was overrated.
What's not allowed
We remove content and suspend accounts for:
- Harassment or bullying — targeting another member with hostility, slurs, or personal attacks
- Hate speech — content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Threats — explicit or implied, against any person
- NSFW or adult content — Pour Decision is a whisky app, not a place for sexual or graphic content
- Spam — repetitive promotional posts, off-platform recruitment, copy-pasted comment blasts
- Misinformation — knowingly false claims about products, distilleries, or members
- Impersonation — pretending to be someone you're not, including S4D crew or other members
On self-promotion
We're a small community. Sharing your blog, channel, or local bottle shop in a relevant thread is fine. Showing up only to promote yourself is not. Use judgment.
How to report content
Anywhere you see a "•••" menu — on a post, comment, tasting, or profile — there's a Report option. Tell us why and we'll look at it. Reports are handled by Drew (the founder) personally for now. High-severity reports (harassment, hate, NSFW) auto-hide content immediately while we review; everything else stays visible until we get to it.
You can also report users entirely. That's separate from blocking, which just hides their content from your feed.
How to block someone
If you'd rather just not see someone's content, you can block them from their profile (Block User in the "•••" menu). Blocking is bidirectional — they won't see your stuff either, you won't see theirs, and neither of you can comment on the other's posts.
You can manage your blocked list in Settings → Blocked Users.
What happens when we remove content
We remove content that violates these guidelines. If we think the violation is intentional or repeated, we may suspend or terminate the account.
We don't run an appeals process yet. If you think we made the wrong call, email us at support@scotch4dummies.com and we'll take another look — a human will read it.
Our judgment
We try to be consistent, but moderation is judgment. We may remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion when we believe it's necessary to protect the community, even if a specific rule above doesn't apply cleanly.
